At the Erum Group we have a strong commitment to respecting the environment, working under the paradigm of the Circular Economy based on the 7Rs.
This week we celebrate the World Environment Day, on June 5th, and World Oceans Day, on June 8th. Dates that should serve to remember an essential commitment to the environment on the part of the society.
In the environment, the oceans are fundamental to the balance of the global ecosystem, our greatest natural resource. We must not forget that the oceans regulate the climate and generate oxygen, in addition to their incredible diversity of marine life.
Unfortunately, the oceans are facing challenges such as plastic pollution, a negative impact on marine biodiversity and on the lives of millions of people who depend on the oceans for their livelihoods.
Taking concrete action to protect and restore our oceans is essential. This means promoting changes in people’s lifestyles, manufacturing processes and company culture to contribute to the preservation of our oceans.
At Erum Group, in our quest to leave a better world for the new generations, the commitment to sustainability is firm both in internal management and in our products and services.
Products such as our recycled hangers or our 100% ECO Traffic Light Connected, are examples of manufacturing with bioplastics or recovered materials and through an eco-design, in which we take into account, from its conception, the environmental impacts of the product throughout its cycle of life.
COLLABORATIVE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Under the Circular Economy paradigm based on the 7Rs, we are committed to the future, developing the best lines of innovation in the creation and manufacture of products and their subsequent recycling.
When we talk about the 7 R’s, we talk about Rethinking by optimizing packaging, transport and logistics, Redesign to manufacture with environmental guideline, Recycle with more than 90% recycled material, Recover by collecting used materials, Reuse more than 10 times, Reduce the carbon footprint with more than 250 million hangers per year, reused and recycled, and Repair, review and select the hangers for later reuse.
From Grupo Erum we promote a new production system based on the principles of nature, which reuses or recycles the materials and waste that we generate to create raw materials. In this way, we close the product cycle.
RTS – RETURN TO SOURCE
At Erum we have the necessary technical capabilities to offer products made with 100% recycled material, which translates into a significant reduction in associated environmental impacts.
Using 100% recycled materials we achieve 99% less CO2 emissions for each reused product, compared to a virgin product.
The RTS system is an applied example of the Collaborative Circular Economy where we seek to be the largest circularity project.
Through our global collaborative circular economy model RTS (Return to Source), we collect material in more than 120 countries for recycling or reuse at processing centres, enabling us to reduce the amount of new plastic in circulation and give plastic more than 40 lives.
In the last year we collected more than 8,000 tonnes of material that we have sorted for recycling and recycling. In this way, we close the production cycle and prevent plastic from ending up in landfills or in the ocean, turning waste into a resource.
The optimized recirculation of our products contributes to reducing the carbon footprint and reinforces our capacities in the design of products and processes with a clear environmental focus.
POWERFULTREE PROJECT BASED ON PLANT WELFARE
At Erum we are concerned about the environment, for this reason, we saw the need to search for and investigate greener energy sources: in this case photovoltaic energy.
The available land is limited, it is currently destined for agricultural use and is in competition with photovoltaic energy. With our PowerfulTree solution we share the land for agricultural production and photovoltaic energy.
In this way, we achieve management through an Agritecnovoltaic system where the same land is shared for agricultural production and renewable energy, the effects of climate change are fought, with active shading, and low-cost energy and data are available in the same crop to apply the Agritech..
With this practice we get benefits such as:
- Reduce up to 40% water consumption by avoiding evaporation
- Reduce plant stress (vine, coffee, peppers, etc.)
- Create a protective microclimate against inclement weather such as frost or extreme radiation.
- Optimize irrigation during droughts and the rainy season.
- Reduce soil erosion.
- Diversify farmers’ income.
- Improve productivity.
- Optimize (uniformity) the maturation of the fruit.
