It is an agreement to promote pilot tests, with the aim of evaluating the connected cones developed by the Erum Group in urban areas
The Erum Group and the Alcoy City Council have today signed a collaboration agreement within the framework of the SandBox Urbano Alcoy project, launched by the council with the aim of promoting and managing Innovative Public Procurement (IPP), within the strategic framework of the Urban Agenda and with the support of the Agència Valenciana de la Innovació (AVI).
Alcoy is one of the first Urban SandBox to be developed at the state level and this allows the city to become a test and experimentation bench for the development of innovative solutions that favor and improve the social, economic or environmental reality of the city, without requiring a regulatory exception. Through the agreement, it is proposed to carry out pilot tests to analyze the beaconing and geolocation systems for the management of information to the Citizen, and the preparation of reports on mobility and the environment.
Connected road technology to measure emissions
The road technology incorporated into the Erum Group’s connected and geolocated system, such as the PF Led One connected traffic light or the PF Cone, increases the safety of both users and operators working on the road, due to its visible light by up to 1,000 meters. On the other hand, by having a location system, it allows connection with traffic platforms and the municipal website, being able to report in real time on the location of works or lane closures due to sports events or events, and alert other users of route. In addition, an evolution of the system’s functionalities is in the development phase, which will include the measurement of traffic and speeds, environmental information or emissions, even incorporating a camera for real-time viewing of the work, among other options, which will be included in the tests proposed to be carried out in the Alcoy SandBox.
These devices, evaluated with the DGT and MITMA, make it possible to identify the cut or road incident, and notify the managers of the position to inform users in real time. Now, they can also take measurements
Road safety, improving mobility and risk prevention are priority objectives in road management. It is very important to have accurate and fast information to improve decision-making by those responsible, protecting work areas (and their workers), and informing users to avoid incidents and retentions. With the Erum Group’s PF Cone, communication with the authorities is optimized, a good tool that could now be evaluated in Alcoy. Previously, the PF Cone model has passed the demanding tests carried out with the DGT 3.0 platform and with the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA), ensuring the transmission of information.
For Juan Manuel Erum, CEO of PF Vial, “SandBox will allow us to improve our technology in real conditions. And it is an honor that Alcoy is the first town to evaluate this progress in Road Safety”. And as the mayor of Alcoy, Toni Francés, underlines, “having a relevant company linked to our city such as Erum Group so that they can put their innovative solutions to the test in the Urban SandBox of Alcoy represents a definitive boost to our commitment for industry 4.0, innovation and technology as tools to become a territory of excellence”.
The Alcoy urban Sandbox will act as a true lever for urban transformation based on a framework agreement and specific derivative agreements. Grupo Erum is already the third company adhered to the framework agreement, paving the way for a fruitful public-private collaboration.
