From the Erum Group and ACTECO we join the efforts that all institutions are making to minimize the consequences of this spill.
The Erum Group, a Spanish company specialized in the injection of sustainable plastic products, will participate in the management of the waste that appears on the Galician coasts, working on the treatment and recycling of materials recovered from the beaches. In turn, ACTECO, a company specialized in waste management, treatment and recycling, and ERUM Group, its industrial division specializing in the injection of recycled plastic with a presence in 22 countries, will be in charge of recovering this material for recycling and the subsequent creation of new products.
Through this collaboration, the plastic pellets (small balls of plastic material, which can be virgin or recycled) that are appearing on the Galician coasts, and that are being collected in a coordinated manner by the associations and City Councils in the area, will be sent to ACTECO centers to be processed safely and respectfully with the environment, according to current standards.
Waste must be treated separately and specialized
The material obtained during the collection, and transported to the waste management centers, will receive a selection, filtering and cleaning treatment for recycling through the technology of ACTECO, a company with 27 years of experience dedicated to recovery and revaluation of industrial waste, with presence in Alicante, Madrid, Valencia, Zaragoza, Coruña, Albacete, Cádiz and Barcelona.
For the organization of waste collection, the environmental consultancy Ziclos Circular Economy has offered its knowledge and experience for the coordination of transport routes for sending the material from the affected beaches to the ACTECO plant in Arteixo. This transfer of plastic pellets would be carried out in accordance with more specific management criteria according to the characteristics of this plastic waste, which requires specialized companies.
Once the plastic recycling treatment has been carried out at the ACTECO plant in Ibi (Alicante), this product will be sent to the factory that the Erum Group has in Spain. There it will be converted again into valid and certified products for marketing and distribution, such as recycled hangers, or plastic material for the manufacture of packaging. This last process, that of manufacturing, will depend on the amount of product that is finally collected, and the usable material.
From Grupo ERUM and ACTECO we thus join the efforts that all institutions are making to minimize the consequences of this spill. Thanks to the technology, experience and synergies of both companies, this waste can become a new resource, promoting the circular economy and the use of materials, reducing the environmental impact, emissions and improving energy efficiency.
