The Led Cone is the first to achieve resounding success in the pilot tests to verify the connectivity to the DGT 3.0 platform and the lighting required by the General Directorate of Highways.
The General Directorate of Highways of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, through its Road Safety Unit, together with the General Directorate of Traffic, have carried out simulations of the operation of the Led Cone, emulating usual conservation operations and evaluating certain aspects of the cone and its operation, such as its geolocation accuracyón. The Led Cone is the first connected cone to achieve resounding success in pilot tests to verify connectivity to the DGT 3.0 platform and the lighting requirements required by the General Directorate of Highways.
The Led Cone, the Connected Cone of Erum Vial, a subsidiary of the Erum Group, is a roadwork signaling cone that incorporates a light beacon that allows its geolocation. Through the information it emits, it is possible, on the one hand, to increase the safety of workers on the road, alerting users in real time through notices and messages; On the other hand, the connectivity system through the Narrow Band IoT network allows knowing the exact location of the work in real time, improving the management and control of road cutting times, reducing risks and inconvenience to users.
Juan Manuel Erum, CEO of the Erum Group, highlights the importance of the V16 Connected Emergency Light, Led One Connected, and the Connected Cone, Led Cone, to improve road safety, mobility and prevent risks. It stands out that this objective has been achieved thanks to the collaboration with workers, conservative companies, the DGT and MITMA, who have provided different points of view and improvements for these innovative solutions.
“This collaboration marks a milestone in road safety, opening a new chapter and covering the need for safety and protection that workers in construction zones demanded,” says Erum.
A technological development tested by institutions
This test joins others that have already been carried out on the roads of the Murcia region, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA) and the DGT 3.0 platform, under real traffic circumstances, or those carried out in the urban center of the city of Alcoy.
In all of them, the correct transmission of information was verified with the road operators, the position and identification of each cone to locate the exact position with a difference margin of centimeters.
Connected Road Technology to improve safety in road work
Erum Vial products incorporate LED lights, sensors and locators that allow information such as geoposition to be sent, but other functionalities have also been developed such as measuring traffic intensity, traffic speeds, emissions control or weather information, that will improve management and safety in road work. The Led Cone is certified in resistance and impermeability, they comply with the requirements of the DGT 3.0 and have a wide operating autonomy.
