The Fundación SEUR in collaboration with ACTECO, has managed to collect more than 1,479 tons of plastic bottle caps with the help of more than 13 million people.
Around 40 minors have benefited from this programme, the purpose of which is to raise funds to meet medical costs not covered by the Spanish national health system and to help seriously ill children to buy orthopaedic equipment that their families cannot afford.
Charitable events are organised all over Spain for this purpose, one of the most recent of which was organised by the Guardia Civil in Zamora, which delivered a total of 260,000 plastic bottle caps to the Foundation as part of the charitable campaign launched with a public race.
The project has made it possible to recycle more than 1,000 tons of plastic, saving energy, raw materials and preventing the production of waste at the same time. The programme has prevented the emission of CO2, the main gas responsible for climate change.
The resulting material is used by Plásticos Erum to manufacture garment hangers, among other products. Many international garment manufacturers purchase these products, allowing them to collaborate indirectly with this charitable project.
