The Plapack research project is one year old

The main aims of this project, in which several companies (Plásticos Erum, Condensia Química, Nanobiomatters, Envaplaster, Papel Plast and Criimpla) are taking part as a consortium and which receives support from several research centres such as AIMPLAS, the University of Alicante and the ICTP-CSIC, is to develop innovative biodegradable materials of natural origins based on modifying polylactic acid or polylactide (PLA), using additives that are highly compatible with the polymer without reducing its transparency of temperature resistance.
Erum Group is particularly interested in optimising its current production system to permit high crystallinity of grades of modified PLA without detriment to the production chain, unmoulding capacity and surface quality.
The three-year PLAPACK project is funded by the Centre for Technological Development (CDTI).
